Meaning of Incultus

Incultus is a Latin word meaning:

  1. untilled, uncultivated
  2. neglected
  3. unadorned, unpolished

The definition is one thing but meaning is something else.

For me, I’ve maintained the Incultus website through the years as it was a place I put the resumes of my wife and I originally.  It then morphed into a personal blog before there were blogs and then went dormant.  Now, my intention is to revitalize and bring meaning to this website by connecting it with my writing and martial arts blogs.  I also want to start posting things that don’t necessarily relate to business or martial arts like cooking, living and simply enjoying the pleasures of life.

I’ve always enjoyed the idea of maintaining some uncultivated or unpolished part of myself.  It is my connection to my shadow elements.  It’s a doorway into learning more about myself and the world around me.  For me, Incultus is the name of the entry point into the stillness within.

Hand in hand we can find our way through the darkness and the light finding the stillness between the two.

The two of us together can find our way out of the cave and experience the light.

The two of us together can find our way out of the cave and experience the light.
